Nobody Near You Teaches
French for the Exam You Need

Most French courses in Canada are built for people who want a hobby. Yours has a deadline and a score attached to it. This program is built backwards from the TEF and TCF, so every month of the twelve is spent on something the exam will actually ask you.

Built around a score, not a syllabus

Each stage aims at a specific band, from CLB 4 to CLB 7. You always know which one you are working toward and how far away it is.

Taught by people who grew up speaking it

Every teacher is a native speaker from France or Quebec. You hear the accent, speed and phrasing the examiners use, not a textbook version of it.

Mock exams under real conditions

Timed papers marked the way the real graders mark them, so exam day is the second time you sit the test rather than the first.

+50
Bonus CRS Points

French at CLB 7 can add up to 50 points to your Express Entry score, and it opens the French language draws, which have been inviting candidates well below the general cutoff.

The curriculum

What the Twelve Months Actually Look Like

The program assumes you are starting with nothing. No prior French, no grammar background, no vocabulary. Two live classes a week, ninety minutes each, all the way through.

Months 1 to 6, the French itself. Six levels of grammar, vocabulary and speaking practice that take a complete beginner to a solid B1 and past it. Homework is corrected by your own teacher, not by software.

Months 7 to 12, the exam. The four TEF and TCF sections one at a time, plus timing, scoring and the specific things graders reward. This half is where a good French speaker becomes a good exam candidate, and they are not the same thing.

TEF/TCF Preparation - 6 Months

By this stage, you’ve mastered the French Foundations and reached a B1 level.

In the second half of the program, the focus moves entirely to the TEF/TCF exam. You train all 4 sections: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Live lessons, realistic mock exams, and personal feedback build the skills and confidence you need on test day.

Mock Exams and Corrections:

  • Complete practice tests for all TEF/TCF sections.
  • Receive detailed corrections and feedback from experienced instructors.

Master Advanced Grammar for TEF/TCF Success:

  • Plus-que-parfait, Subjunctive, Gérondif, and other key structures.
  • Use grammar effectively in speaking and writing.

Expand Your Vocabulary:

  • Topics like volunteering, arts, travel, health, and gastronomy.
  • Idiomatic expressions to sound more fluent and natural.

Sharpen Your Comprehension Skills:

  • Strategies for tackling listening and reading sections.
  • Practice with authentic texts, recordings, and exercises.

Boost Your Writing Performance:

  • Learn to write structured essays and responses for TEF/TCF sections.
  • Practice argumentation and persuasive writing techniques.

Build Your Speaking Confidence:

  • Develop clear and coherent speech for both speaking sections.
  • Practice expressing opinions, narrating experiences, and answering scenarios.

I´m enrolled in a one year transformation course from level 0 to TEF/TCF exam. The course is well structured and giving you a lot of information. It goes without saying that there´s a lot of self-study needed outside of the course, however, you can always ask for a help from your teacher or study group. I spent my first 6 months of the course with Frédérique and I´m so grateful for everything I learnt in her classes. Her teaching style and positive attitude made classes easier. Even though the learning process was difficult (obviously, because it´s French), I had a lot of fun during the lessons.

Needless to say if you are doing TEF prep for the purpose of immigration you know how stressful the process can be, but I’m so lucky that Maï is my instructor. Coming into the TEF prep class I have been learning French on and off for 4 years in the past but has since not kept it up, and I enrolled in TEF prep ready to be told that I should in fact go to one of the level classes because I’m not B1, but even in the first two classes where I struggled a lot and voiced my fears to Maï, she has expressed only confidence in me and encouraged me to keep going. I’ve been kicking my ass learning French with her guidance and feedback and I’ve progressed so much in just the past 1.5 months in her class. And I truly feel like I can participate and make mistakes without fear because Maï will always correct me with kindness. I now feel like a good result in TEF is within my reach and I’m excited to update this review once I get a result

I’ve had the pleasure of starting my French transformation with Marion, she is an amazing teacher who helped me learn French at a fast pace, gave me a solid base for the grammar as well as making the place an interesting and enjoyable experience. I am now taking the TEF prep course with Maïwen and I am very happy with the way she is helping me and my classmates prepare for the exam. She is very helpful and supportive in assisting us to get ready for the exam, in practicing Reading, Listening, Writing and most importantly Speaking French with confidence! I would recommend both Maï and Marion of them for anyone interested in learning French, whether it be for the TEF exam or not. ☺️

IRCC accepts both for Express Entry, and this course prepares you for either. The TCF uses clearer multiple choice questions, while the TEF gives you a little more freedom in the speaking section. You do not have to decide now. We help you choose in month nine, once your teacher can see how you handle each format.
